COACH'S CORNER
Quotes by head coach Bill Tramel
On the effort and the Herd's depth:
Coaches talk about team efforts. This meet is an example of that. We beat Bowling Green with our depth. It's important to pick up the third, fourth and fifth place points.
On Carin Ingram:
Carin Ingram had the best dual meet of her career today. I made the decision to assign her to Coach Nigro this year instead of training with me. Carin has really responded to his training. She was fantastic today.
On Madeline Schaffer:
Maddie Schaffer was great handling an event audible. In trying to win the meet, we made some line up adjustments on the fly and she came through big with a lifetime best in the 200 breast. It's one thing to have athletes that are capable, it's another thing to have athletes who can handle change mentally with only five minutes to prepare.
On the win over Bowling Green:
Our focus today was on the second period. Last week against Michigan State we let that segment get away from us and it likely cost us the meet. So we focused on having the best second period today. That won us the meet against Bowling Green. Our backstrokes were great; we got an upset win in the 200 breast by Catherine (Bendziewicz); we swept the 500 1-2-3; and Chloe (Parsemain) took care of business in the 100 fly. We had a tough number of weeks and we have two more before our midseason meet. We'll enjoy this and then get back to work on Monday.
