@HerdSwimDive to Host West Virginia State Games this Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall swimming and diving will host the sixth annual West Virginia State Games at the Fredrick A. Fitch Natatorium in the Cam Henderson Center. The meet will start Friday at 4 p.m., and continues on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall returns to the pool after a successful campaign a year ago. The Thundering Herd placed third at the 2016 Conference USA Championships, good for its highest ever finish. The Herd earned 12 medals at the meet, including two gold, five sliver and five bronze.
Head coach Bill Tramel enters his fifth season at the helm of the Marshall swimming and diving program. He is joined by assistant swimming coach Brandt Nigro and diving coach Tony Cortright, who are in their first year with Marshall.
Marshall finished the 2016 spring semester with a 3.68 team grade point average. The mark is the highest in program history and fourth highest GPA in the nation among women's Division I swimming and diving programs. The Herd earned the 2015-16 C-USA Sport Academic Award that was announced in July.
ABOUT THE MEET
The West Virginia State Games is in its sixth consecutive year and is hosted each year by Marshall or WVU, the state's two NCAA Division I schools. The meet also features Alderson-Broaddus, Davis & Elkins, Fairmont State, Salem International, West Virginia Institute of Technology, West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling Jesuit.
