HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Marshall swimming and dive team will host the Cleveland State Vikings in a two day dual meet beginning this Friday at 6 p.m. and finishing Saturday at 11 a.m. The meet will be held at the Fredrick A. Fitch Natatorium in the Cam Henderson Center.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall is fresh off a split performance in a tri-meet against Miami (Ohio) and Bowling Green. The Thundering Herd defeated Bowling Green for the first time since 2005 with a final score of 162-138. The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks defeated MU, 188-112.
Marshall placed first in the 1650 freestyle, 200 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley and 200 freestyle relay. The Herd swimmers with individual wins were Anna Lynch, Madeline Schaffer, Sirena Rowe, Chloe Parsemain and Caroline Wanner.
The Marshall swimming and dive team finished off the meet with a tremendous win in the 200 freestyle relay. The team consisted of Catherine Bendziewicz, Rowe, Gloriya Mavrova and Parsemain the team finished with the winning time of 1:35.64.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
Cleveland State is having a fantastic season thus far posting a 2-0 record, with wins coming over St. Bonaventure (Oct . 21; W, 137-106) and Xavier (Oct. 29; W, 159-128). The Vikings finished fourth of seven teams competing at the Colgate Fall Classic.
Cleveland State is led by freshman Gabriella Marinelli, sophomore Molly McNamara and sophomore Claudia Zido, all of which won two individual events in their past meet against Xavier. McNamara won the 200 butterfly with an impressive time of 2:02.56, well over nine seconds ahead of the competition. She also won the 400 IM and finished second in the 100 butterfly. Marinelli won both the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle, she also took third in the 500 freestyle. Zido swept the distance freestyle events as she finished first in the 500 and won the 1000.

UP NEXT
The Thundering Herd will travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the NC State GAC Invitational starting Nov. 17 at 9:30 a.m. The Invitational will finish up on Nov. 19.
