All-Conference Selections

IRVING, Texas - Seniors Trevor Starcher and Arthur Duchesne were named to the men's soccer All-Conference USA teams the conference office announced Tuesday. Starcher was honored as a second team selection and Duchesne was named to the third team.

It was the first such honor for either player.

"Both players were consistent performers all year for our team," Herd coach Bob Gray said. "Arthur (Duchesne) was the key to our defense and was a calming effect on our younger players. Trevor (Starcher) was our spark and ball winner that allowed us to get forward and create scoring chances.

"Although we didn't finish well in conference it was only a bad bounce here or there that kept us from repeating last year's run. I'm happy for both of these men and there was never any quit in them. The epitome was Trevor playing the last game against Charlotte with a bad groin injury but refused to come out of the game."

Starcher appeared in 62 career games with 43 starts. The Hurricane, W.Va native recorded seven goals and seven assists in his career. He started every game in 2016 and led the Herd with 10 points and finished tied for the team lead with three goals and four assists. Starcher hit the game-winning goal with just three minutes left in regulation against FAU. He assisted on both goals in the match at New Mexico Oct. 22. He was also honored as a CoSIDA Academic All-District with a 3.90 GPA as a double major in management and marketing. He is a four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a four-time recipient of the C-USA Academic Medal.

Duchesne started 44 matches while appearing in 45 over his three seasons with the Herd. The Piegut Pluviers, France native was one of the main defenders for Marshall logging over 1,400 minutes played. His ability to send the ball down the field was key for the Herd to get back on the attack. He recorded three career assists and scored his first career goal in 2016 as the game-winner against Northern Kentucky at The Vet Sept. 21.
