HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall swimming and diving will close out the fall portion of its schedule when it hosts Ohio University Friday at 5 p.m. inside the Fredrick A. Fitch Natatorium at the Cam Henderson Center. Admission to the meet is free.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall returns to the pool after a two-week break, as it is coming off the NC State GAC Invitational. The Thundering Herd finished in seventh place, and was the only non-power conference school at the invite. MU finished with 508 points, ahead of Miami (Fla.) with 467 and Virginia with 45. Virginia only competed in diving.
The Thundering Herd currently has four swimmers that rank in the top-3 of five different events amongst Conference USA schools. Freshman Sirena Rowe ranks second in the 50 backstroke (25.27) and 50 free (22.60). Junior Emma Lockyer holds the second spot in the 400 IM (4:20.15), while sophomore Caroline Wanner ranks third (4:21.89). Senior Chloe Parsemain is third in the 200 butterfly (2:02.03). MU also ranks second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.09.
The Herd won its lone dual meet this season against Cleveland State, 232-122. Marshall was consistent in the two-day meet by winning 18 of 20 events.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Ohio enters the meet with a 1-2 record in dual meets this season. The Bobcats started the year with a win over Youngstown State, but has since lost to Mid-American Conference rivals Eastern Michigan and Miami (Ohio). Ohio's last competition came at the Louisville Invite from Nov. 18-20. The Bobcats finished third of six teams with 1,081 points.
