HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Two Marshall University swimmers -- senior Alex Black and sophomore Madi Pulfer -- have been named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, the league office announced Thursday.
Black, a native of Palm Bay, Fla., has been recognized by the conference for her 3.67 GPA in marketing. Black competed in six of the Herd's nine regular season events and has earned a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for three straight years. She has two fourth-place finishes this year, both in the 100-yard breaststroke, against Ohio and Vanderbilt. Black also was a key member of Marshall's relay teams in 2015-16.
Pulfer, a sophomore from Ottawa, Ontario, has a 3.78 GPA in criminal justice. She received the C-USA Academic Medal and was named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2015. Pulfer has nine individual wins, including four meets in which she won at least two events. Pulfer also was named C-USA Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 17, 2015.
Black and Pulfer are the ninth and 10th Herd team members to make the C-USA All-Academic team since the awards inception in 2006-07.
Black and Pulfer are currently competing with the Herd at the 2016 Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships. Follow Marshall swimming and diving on Twitter, @HerdSwimming.
