Herd Swimming and Diving Friday Preliminaries Recap

ATLANTA - The Marshall swimming and diving team completed Friday preliminaries at the Conference USA Championships at McAuley Aquatics Center.
In the 400 IM, the Herd placed three finalists in the "A" final. Freshman Caroline Wanner placed fourth with a time of 4:22.40, while freshman Madeline Schaffer placed sixth (4:24.25) and sophomore Emma Lockyer qualified eighth (4:25.56). Also competing for Marshall was junior Teel Hartmann (ninth, 4:27.24).
The Herd also placed two in the "A" final of the 100 butterfly. Junior Chloe Parsemain (54.39) and sophomore Gloriya Mavrova (55.43) qualified fourth and eighth, respectively. Freshman Shir Wasserman qualified 10th (55.96).
Herd athletes in the 200 freestyle prelims were freshman Maggie Stovall (11th, 1:51.27), sophomore Madi Pulfer (12th, 1:51.29), freshman Anna Lynch (17th, 1:52.51), freshman Brittany Wilkerson (20th, 1:53.20), sophomore Savannah Ruedt (21, 1:53.25), junior Laura Bradley (22, 1:53.43), sophomore Nele Albers (23, 1:53.82) and junior Bree Mury (24, 1:54.04).
In the 100 breaststroke, sophomore Lauren Cowher finished 13th (1:05.18) and junior Mikaya Reynolds finished 14th (1:05.20). The Herd also had two performers in the 100 backstroke, Parsemain (12, 57.19) and Mury (20, 58.78).
"A much better morning than yesterday," Marshall coach Bill Tramel said. "Our first two events were fantastic. Three 'A' finalists in the 400 IM and top seed in the 'B' final will bring lots of points. Three Lifetime Bests in the 100 Fly with 2 more 'A' finalists. We didn't have as much firepower in the 100 Breast and 100 Back simply because our people are swimming other events. But we did the best we could there.
"Our divers are starting 1-meter in just a few minutes, so we hope they can back up the amazing job they did yesterday.
"Tonight will be a battle. But we are built to be best at evening finals. We're looking forward to it."
