Herd Swimming and Diving To Host Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall swimming and diving team will be home for the last time this season, hosting Ohio and Toledo in the Marshall Invitational. Competition begins Friday at 5 p.m. in the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium (inside the Cam Henderson Center) and will continue Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free for spectators.
Marshall is coming off a win against North Florida and a loss to Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., on Jan. 30. The Herd is now 8-3 in dual meets this season.
In the last meet, sophomore Madi Pulfer led the Herd with wins in the 200-yard backstroke, the 500 freestyle and a second place finish in the 200 freestyle.
The Marshall Invitational is the final home meet for the Herd's lone senior, Alex Black (Palm Bay, Fla.)
Sophomore Gloriya Mavrova and freshman Caroline Wanner had impressive weekends as well. Mavrova won the 50 freestyle and clocked a season best in her second place finish in the 100 freestyle. Wanner won the 400 IM with a time of 4:25.39, nearly five seconds faster than any other competitor.

NEXT UP:
The Herd heads to Atlanta for the 2016 Conference USA Championships. The competition starts on Wednesday, Feb. 24 and runs through Saturday, Feb. 27.
