@Herd_Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision to Musketeers

HUNTINGTON. W.Va. -The Marshall women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the Xavier Musketeers Sunday afternoon at the Fox Tennis Center.
Marshall fell to 9-10 with the loss, while Xavier improved to 15-5 with the win.
Winning doubles matches for the Herd were the team of Rachael Morales (Columbus, Ohio) and Maddie Silver (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) and the team of Marija Bogicevic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Anne Gulsrud (Stavanger, Norway). Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany) and Bogicevic won singles matches for the Herd.
The Herd was able to take the doubles point for the second consecutive match. Bogicevic and Gulsrud teamed up for a 6-4 win over Sophia Abelson and Lauren Ghidotti. Turhan and Anna Pomyatinskaya (Sochi, Russia) fell 6-4 to Sydney Liggins and Amina Ismail. Morales and Silver clinched the pointe for the Herd with a 7-5 win over Alex Brinker and Cristina Di Lorenzo.
The Herd would not fare well in singles play, winning just two of the six matches. Pomyatinskaya dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Ismail. Turhan would follow by defeating Liggins. Morales fell in a closely contested 7-5, 7-5 match against Di Lorenzo. Gulsrud fell in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 against Ghidotti. Silver claimed the first set of her match against Brinker before falling in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 6-4, clinching the match for Xavier. Bogicevic defeated Abelson in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
