KNOXVILLE, Tn. -- Marshall Swimming & Diving continued its successful week, this time at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville.

The Thundering Herd posted eight lifetime-best times and 29 season-best times during preliminaries this morning against stiff competition.

Anna Lynch was the lone Marshall swimmer to advance to this evening's finals in the 500 Freestyle. However, eight other swimmers had highlight performances. Emma Lockyer and Justine Jagga swam career bests in the 200 IM, Lockyer at 2:04.12 and Jagga at 2:10.40. A parade of Thundering Herd swimmers achieved new career-bests in the 50 Freestyle. Catherine Bendziewicz led the way with a 23.63, the eighth-fastest time in program history. Also with career-bests were Hannah Robins (24.23), Caroline Wanner (24.28), Shir Wasserman (24.60), Maddie Schaffer (25.27) and Cara Martin (26.28).

Marshall Divers compete this afternoon and relays will compete this evening.

"We seemed to be dragging a bit this morning but got better as we woke up," said Marshall head coach Bill Tramel. "It's totally understandable with our travel and intense meet last night in Nashville. I think the entire team had fun with that 50 Free, whether they were swimming it or not. We are up against great teams here, and I know we'll be better as the meet goes and we adapt. The important thing is we had lots of season-bests and a bunch of lifetime-bests this morning. We are swimming well, so there isn't too much to change. We just need to keep our focus and be disciplined in our preparation."

Finals begin tonight at 6 pm.
