IRVING, Texas - Marshall University sophomore swimmer Anna Lynch has been named to the 2017 Conference USA InTouch Credit Union Swimming and Diving All-Academic team, the league office announced Tuesday.

"We are so proud of Anna," head coach Bill Tramel said. "We work to support academic endeavors so our student-athletes are exceptionally prepared for the next chapter in their life. That is paramount in our program because none of our athletes are going pro in swimming."

Lynch, an international business major, has earned a 4.0 GPA while competing in all 10 of Marshall's meets this season. The Oakwood, Ohio, native is a member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a recipient of the C-USA Academic Medal. Lynch is a student of the Honors College at Marshall and also a member of the dean's list. She has received the John Marshall Academic Scholarship. She currently serves as the vice president of the Professional Activities for the Delta Sigma Pi professional fraternity.

"Anna embodies that academic philosophy," Tramel said. "She is equally determined in the classroom as she is in the pool. Anna seeks out challenges, partaking in three minors in addition to her International Business major. She is also the Vice President of professional activities for the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity at Marshall University. In that capacity, Anna communicates with various businesses, coordinating on and off campus engagements. Our entire program takes pride in Anna's well deserved honor."

In the pool, Lynch has earned two individual wins this season. The sophomore earned a victory in the 200 freestyle (1:55.46) against Saint Louis, Arkansas-Little Rock and McKendree University. She also claimed first place in the 1650 freestyle (17:18.61) against Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio). Lynch registered a lifetime best in the 1000 freestyle against Vanderbilt with a time of 10:24.02.

The seven-member team was selected by a vote of the league's member sports information directors. In order to qualify for nomination to the team, student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and serve as a key competitor of their respective team.
