INDIANAPOLIS - Marshall swimmer Sirena Rowe completed her second day of the 2017 NCAA Championships Friday morning inside the IU Natatorium.
The freshman improved on her 61st seed time by finishing second in her heat and 51st overall with a time of 54.32.
"This was another solid swim," head coach Bill Tramel said. "The tempo was a bit slower than at the C-USA championships, and it looked like she really didn't get going until the last 20 meters. It's still her third fastest swim of her life, so we aren't disappointed.
We think her 100 freestyle tomorrow is the event with the most room for improvement. If she swims it aggressively, Sirena should finish well."
Rowe will conclude her NCAA championship campaign Saturday by competing in the 100 freestyle. The championship is streamed for free through the NCAA website.
