The Thundering Herd has won twice in Miami. Marshall was 74-50 on February 26, 2015 and 65-58 on January 15, 2016.
Last Time Out
Marshall's Shayna Gore and Taylor Porter scored 19 points apiece and the visitors held off a furious comeback by host Florida Atlantic to emerge from Boca Raton's FAU Arena with a 72-67 win Thursday evening in Conference USA action.
The Thundering Herd improved to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in C-USA play, while the Owls dropped to 3-15 and 0-5.
Porter also finished with six assists and no turnovers and Taylor Pearson had a nice game as well, with nine points and a game-high nine rebounds.
The Owls received 17 points from Myka Matthews and 14 from Juliette Gauthier, who also had seven boards. Glenisha Harkless contributed eight assists but was also hounded into eight turnovers.
The Thundering Herd led by 11 (45-34) at the half and built its lead to 17 midway through the third quarter, but the Owls came back and tied the contest at 56-apiece.
Marshall regained a five-point advantage but the Owls tied the game again at 67 on two Matthews free throws with 23 seconds left.
FAU's Amber Gaston then fouled Gore near midcourt on the ensuing possession and the Logan, W.Va. native calmly made two charity tossed to give the visitors a two-point lead.
The Owls' Danneal Ford missed a layup on the next possession and Pearson snatched her final rebound to set up a free throw and two more by Khadaijia Brooks for the final margin.
Marshall had big advantages on points in the paint (32-18) and points off turnovers (24-14), hounding the home team into 21 miscues.
The game saw 49 fouls whistled and three players (FAU's Ra'Kyra Gabriel and Gaston, Marshall's Porter) fould out.
"I'm happy with that complete game," said Marshall head coach Tony Kemper. "I knew that it was going to be hard for us to run away and hide from them. This was a very good team effort. I thought the Taylors (Porter and Pearson) were fantastic."
Good Start
With a win Saturday at FIU, Marshall would improve to 4-1 in Conference USA, the best league start for the program since the Thundering Herd began 5-1 in 2008-09.
Career-Highs
Marshall's Taylor Porter had a career-high six assists in the 72-67 win over Florida Atlantic and tied a career mark with seven made field goals.
Gore-Porter Triples

Thieves on the Floor...
Marshall has ripped off 158 steals and is second in Conference USA with 9.3 thefts per game (the last time a Marshall team averaged more was 10.5 in 2011-12). 52.7 percent (158-of-300) of the opposition's turnovers have resulted in a Thundering Herd steal. Taylor Porter (26) and Kia Sivils (18) are right behind and both had a season-high five steals with Porter against Bluefield State and Sivils at Appalachian State. Gore (5th - 1.9) and Mayo (10th - 1.6) both rank in the top 10 in C-USA in steals per game.
The Herd has posted at least seven thefts in eight of the past nine games. Marshall's four steals at WKU snapped a streak of 26 games that saw the Thundering Herd record at least five swipes.

500 Field Goals
Senior Shayna Gore finished the 2017-18 season just one bucket short of 500 made for her career. With 2:14 left in the first quarter of the season-opener against Indiana State, Gore hit a three to become the eighth player in program history with 500 made field goals. After hitting two more baskets in the game, Gore moved into seventh all-time passing Sheila Johnson (1987-91). Gore is now third with 599 after the FAU contest. The senior from Logan, W.Va., still has quite a way to go before possibly reaching second all-time as Marshall Athletics Hall of Famer Kristina Behnfeldt (1995-99) has 664. Fellow Hall of Famer Karen Pelphrey (1982-86) is the program's all-time leader with 1,175.
Moving on up the Ranks
Shayna Gore put up a career-best performance with 34 points against Bowling Green and moved into fourth place all-time in Marshall scoring history. Gore surpassed former Herd great Tynikki Crook (2007-11) in the third quarter and finished the game at 1,485 career points. Gore buried six 3-pointers, the third time in her career with six or more, in helping to move ahead of Crook.
Gore continued her move up the scoring column with 24 points in the win over Tennessee State (12/15) to move into third place all-time, passing Sikeetha Shepard-Hall (2002-06). She now has 1,743 points for her career. Next up in second place is another Herd Hall of Famer in Kristina Behnfeldt (1995-99) with 2,117, and whose number hangs in the rafters in the Cam Henderson Center.
Up Next
Marshall returns to the Cam Henderson Center to face Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
