Dankanych’s Run in Singles Ends at ITA Atlantic Regional

Dankanych forced a super tiebreak in her second match

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Marshall women's tennis' Daniela Dankanych fell in a pair of singles matches on Friday (Oct. 25) at the ITA Atlantic Regional in Blacksburg, Va.
Dankanych was trying to qualify for the main draw through the qualifying draw. She faced Radford's Drousile Dzeubou in the opening round. Dankanych lost 6-3, 6-3 in the opening match.
Dankanych fell to the consolation round after the loss and had a contest against Virginia Tech's Annie Clark. After dropping the first set 6-1, she came back and took the second via the same score and forced a super tiebreak. The tiebreak went beyond the 10-point win by two threshold, but Dankanych fell 14-12 in the breaker.
Saturday Dankanych will begin doubles action with teammate Anna Smith in the round of 32 after the pair received a bye in the round of 64 and will face Paola Delgado and Noumea Witmus of VCU.
Smith will start play in the singles main draw against Old Dominion's Alesya Yakubovich in the round of 64.
