Dankanych and Smith Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals, Smith to Round of 32 Singles

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Marshall women's tennis' Daniela Dankanych and Anna Smith picked up a pair of doubles wins to advance to the quarterfinals and Smith advanced to the round of 32 in singles on Saturday.

In doubles, the pair went to the final game in both of their matches. In the round of 32, they defeated VCU's Paola Delgado and Noumea Witmus 8-6 and then took down sixth-seeded Gabby O'Gorman and Olivia Rohrbacher of Penn State 8-6.

In singles, Smith had to battle back after dropping the first set to Old Dominion's Alesya Yakubovich as she moved on by a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 final.

Smith will face Natalia Perry of William & Mary in the round of 32 on Sunday.

Dankanych and Smith go to head-to-head with fourth-seeded Rosie Johanson and Natasha Subhash of Virginia for a spot in the semifinals.
