Wanner Named to C-USA’s Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team

Thundering Herd student-athlete honored
IRVING, TEXAS – Marshall University senior Caroline Wanner has been named to the 2019 Conference USA In-Touch Credit Union Conference USA Swimming and Diving All-Academic team. To qualify for nomination, student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and serve as a key competitor of their respective team.
Wanner is a three-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and was a 2016, 2017, and 2018 Commissioner's Academic Medal Recipient. She has earned a 3.89 Cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in Health Sciences and has competed in nine of Marshall's meets this season.
Wanner currently holds the school record in the 400 Individual Medley, an event she won at the 2016 C-USA Championships. She also stands third all-time in the 200 Individual Medley, fourth all-time in the 200 Butterfly and fifth all-time in the 200 Backstroke.
"Caroline's passion in the pool and classroom is evident with her success over her four years here at Marshall," said head coach Ian Walsh. "I have had the good fortune of working with her, first during her freshman campaign, and now during her final season. It has been neat to see Caroline's growth as an athlete, student, and person as she has moved through our program. She has been a great role model for our team members and has been a leader, both athletically and academically."
Wanner and the Thundering Herd head to Atlanta for the 2019 Conference USA Championship. The competition begins Wednesday, February 27 and will conclude Saturday, March 2.
