Marshall standout earns league honor
IRVING, Tx. – Marshall's Shayna Gore was named first-team All-Conference USA Monday morning following a vote by the league's head coaches and media representatives.
Gore becomes the program's second first-team All-Conference USA selection, following Leah Scott's honor in 2016.
The Logan native finished the regular season ranked second in C-USA in scoring (20.0) and 3-pointers per game (3.1), third in minutes per game (34.2), fifth in free throw percentage (81.6%), sixth in assists (3.3), eighth in steals (1.7) and 10th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4).
She is also currently fifth in Conference USA history in 3-pointers (297) and ninth in scoring (2,020).
Gore and the rest of the six-seed Thundering Herd (16-13) will play Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT against 11th-seeded UTEP (8-21) in first-round action at the Conference USA Tournament, which will be held at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas.
