Anna Smith Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

Sophomore economics major is sixth different Herd player to earn C-USA All-Academic honors
DALLAS – Sophomore Anna Smith has been named to the 2019 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, the league office announced Tuesday.
The honor marks the first time Smith, who has a 3.89 GPA as an economics major, has been named to the All-Academic team and the fourth straight season Marshall has placed someone on the women's tennis All-Academic team. In total, Marshall has now placed six different players on the Conference USA All-Academic team.
In addition to her All-Academic team honors, Smith is now a two-time Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member and a two-time recipient of the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal after receiving both honors last week for a second consecutive season. Smith was also an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Academic All-American last season. The ITA Academic Awards are released during the summer.
Smith has led Marshall in singles and doubles wins in each of her two seasons, including a career-best 12 singles wins this spring. Smith defeated her first ranked opponent against James Madison in February and won three matches against Conference USA opponents while playing 20 of her 21 matches at the No. 1 position. Smith also went 5-1 in her last six completed doubles matches with partner Daniela Dankanych.
