Full 2019-20 Women's Basketball Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall women's basketball head coach Tony Kemper announced the Herd's 2019-20 schedule. The Thundering Herd will open Conference USA action at the league's defending champion Rice.

"We are really excited to begin our 2019-20 season," coach Kemper said. "Our early season games should prepare us for what will be another challenging Conference USA schedule. We look forward to opening up in the Henderson Center on November 5th."

The Herd opens the year with 11 non-conference games before getting into C-USA play.

Marshall begins the season with two home games as Kentucky Christian (Nov. 5) and Norfolk State (Nov. 9) visit the Cam Henderson Center. The Herd continues non-conference action at regional rival Ohio (Nov. 13), home against Coppin State (Nov. 19) and Morgan State (Nov. 21), at Evansville (Nov. 24), home versus Alderson Broaddus (Nov. 27), at Indiana State (Dec. 3), home with Bowling Green (Dec. 7) and on the road at Rutgers (Dec. 15) and Towson (Dec. 21).

Norfolk State lost to Bethune Cookman in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship game this past season. Marshall and Ohio did not meet in 2018-19. The Bobcats finished the season 30-6, lost to Buffalo in Mid-American Conference championship game, and then went on a roll in the WNIT after defeating High Point (81-74), Middle Tennessee (59-57) and WKU (68-60) before falling to Northwestern (61-58) in the Elite 8. Ohio returns the reigning MAC Freshman and Sixth Player of the Year in Erica Johnson as well as the MAC Defensive Player of the Year in Cece Hooks. Rutgers ended last season at 22-10 and played in the NCAA Tournament. The Towson Tigers also won 20 games (20-13) in 2018-19 including the Colonial Athletic Association Championship and played No. 2 UConn in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Herd starts Conference USA play on the road at Rice (Jan. 2) and then at North Texas (Jan. 4). Marshall will play at home in conference action against Middle Tennessee (Jan. 9), UAB (Jan. 11), WKU (Jan. 25), FIU (Jan. 30), FAU (Feb. 1), UTSA (Feb. 13) and UTEP (Feb. 15). The Herd will be on the road at Charlotte (Jan. 16), Old Dominion (Jan. 18), Southern Miss (Feb. 6), Louisiana Tech (Feb. 8) and WKU (Feb. 20).

The remaining four contests in C-USA play set for late February and early March, leading into the C-USA Tournament, will be announced by the conference office no later than Dec. 15 and will be determined for strength of competition and geographical constraints.
