Marshall defeated UNC Asheville in its final game of 2020 on Dec. 22 by a score of 88-67.
The Herd has won its final home game of each calendar year for the seven years under head coach Dan D'Antoni. The winning streak dates back to an 83-82 loss to Arkansas State inside the Cam Henderson Center on December 21, 2013.
Marshall's 6-1 finish to non-conference play is the program's best non-conference start since the 2000-01 season, when it also went 6-1.
Marshall scored 53 points in the second half, its most points in a half since scoring 54 points in the second half on March 3, 2019 at North Texas.
The Herd's 21-point victory was the team's largest margin of victory of the season. All six of Marshall's victories have come by at least 11 points this season.
The Herd is 6-0 when it outrebounds its opponents this season.
Marshall's 29 bench points were a season-high, and team's most since last season's regular season finale at UTSA (31).
Jannson Williams picked up three blocks. He now has 169 for his Marshall career, 11 away from tying Ajdin Penava for second most in program history.
Taevion Kinsey has led the Herd in scoring in five of the team's first seven games. Kinsey has scored at least 17 points in six of his first seven games this season and now has 57 double-figure scoring games in his career. He's also scored more than 17 points in each of the first seven games.
Mikel Beyers scored a season-high 20 points.
Devin Collins scored the first points of his Marshall career.
Jarrod West's 227 career steals rank third most among all active NCAA men's basketball student-athletes.
MU is averaging 6.9 blocks per game, second most in NCAA Division I men's basketball behind IUPUI's 7.0.
SCOUTING LOUISIANA TECH
The matchup between the Herd Bulldogs has been nearly nine months in the making as the two sides were scheduled to meet in quarterfinals of the 2020 Conference USA Tournament before the remainder of the tournament and season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eric Konkol is in his sixth season in Ruston at the helm of LA Tech.
The Bulldogs lost DaQuan Bracey to graduation after he led the team in points per game with 12.9 and assists with 88.
Kalob Ledoux leads his side in scoring season with 14.4 points per game. He's also averaging four boards per contest.
Kenneth Lofton, Jr. has been a force down low this season for LA Tech averaging 10.3 points and 6.8 rebounds, second most on the team. Lofton, Jr. has also been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week three times this season.
