Men’s Basketball Opens C-USA Play at LA Tech, Saturday’s Contest at Southern Miss Postponed

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University men's basketball team travels to Ruston, La., to open up Conference USA action against Louisiana Tech on Thursday.
SATURDAY'S CONTEST AT SOUTHERN MISS POSTPONED
Saturday's matchup in Hattiesburg, Miss., against Southern Miss has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Golden Eagles men's basketball program. No immediate decision has been made by the league office in terms of rescheduling the game.

MU fell in its final non-conference game of the season on Dec. 21 at Toledo, 95-63.
Junior Taevion Kinsey led MU with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the loss. Redshirt sophomore Andrew Taylor scored 13 points to go with a team-high three steals.
Kinsey reached double-figure scoring for the 47th consecutive outing.
The Herd made a three in its 983rd consecutive game, with the last contest without a triple occurring on Feb. 27, 1989, in a win over App State.
Senior Darius George moved into a tie for eighth most games played in program history with Skip Henderson (1984-1988) at 125.
Kinsey has 1,599 points in his career. He moved past George Washington (1978-82), who had 1,593, for 13th most in Herd men's basketball history.
Taylor reached double-figure scoring for the ninth time this season, 30th of his career.
Marshall is second in the country in blocks per game (7.2). Freshman Obinna Anochili-Killen ranks second in total blocks with 61.
SCOUTING LA TECH
The Bulldogs are led by Kenneth Lofton, Jr., who is averaging a double-double with 18.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this season. He is a two-time Conference USA Player of the Week during the 2021-22 campaign.
LA Tech sits at 32nd in the country in scoring with 80.2 points per game this season. It also has a 1.38 assist/turnover ratio which is best in C-USA and 37th in the nation.
