Volleyball Falls to Kansas City

Herd to play Arkansas State and Memphis on Saturday
CAPE GIRARDEAU – The Marshall volleyball team fought but ultimately fell in three sets to the Kansas City Roos (22-25, 22-25, 25-27), Friday in the SEMO Invitational.
The Thundering Herd is now 2-6. The Roos improve to 7-1.
Marshall had a trio of players record nine kills each in graduate Ciara Debell, fifth-year senior Destiny Leon and redshirt sophomore Olivia Fogo. Leon also hit .692 for the match. Senior Macy McElhaney and sophomore Anna Calcagno had five kills each and fifth-year senior Sydney Lostumo had two.
Leon and Lostumo tied for the team lead with two blocks. Leon's block streak is now 50-straight contests. Lostumo finished with 25 assists and 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the year.
Senior libero Sarah Schank piled up 21 digs including 12 in the first set. She needs just 24 more digs to reach 900 in her career. Junior Meagan Camden had eight digs and sophomore Riley Winslow had two.
The entire match was a back-and-forth battle featuring 23 ties and 10 lead changes. The Herd just could not pull it out in the end.
Marshall is back in action for two more matches on Saturday. The Herd takes on Arkansas State at 2:30 p.m. ET, and then the Memphis Tigers at 5:30 p.m. ET. Neither match will be streamed but live stats are available for both: ARKANSAS STATE | MEMPHIS
