COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Marshall University tennis team closed out action Friday on day one of the Gamecock Shootout in Columbia, South Carolina.

"We faced great competition today and it was exactly what we needed," Herd head coach John Mercer said.

The pairing of Gabrielle Clairotte and Rieke Gillar took their doubles match over a pairing from Washington, as Sophia Hurrion and Johanna Strom won a doubles contest from a team South Carolina.
