Herd Has Two Named to C-USA Swimming/Diving All-Academic Team

Banton, Hart recognized
DALLAS, Tx. – Marshall's Paige Banton and Madeline Hart were named to the 2022 Conference USA Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team on Tuesday.
Both received Honor Roll acclaim from the league and Marshall University last year, while also earning the conference's Academic Medal.
In 2021-22, Banton posted her season-best times in the 100 Breast (1:02.46), 200 Breast (2:13.34) and 200 IM (2:04.64). Banton won the 100 and 200 Breast at the Liberty Invite in November, with the 100 Breast being a lifetime best along with a program all-time Top 10 mark. She was named C-USA Swimmer of the Week three times this season and set new pool records against Bowling Green in the 100 Breast (1:03.27) and 200 Breast (2:15.82). She currently sits 11th in the 100 and 200 Fly and 12th in the 200 Free in the league's rankings.
Hart posted her season-best times in the 100 Fly (55.44) and 200 Fly (2:03.40). She won the 200 Butterfly at the Liberty Invite in November, which was also a lifetime best along with an MU all-time Top 10 time. She swam another season-best in the 200 Freestyle (1:51.79) against Bowling Green, notching her first win of the season. She currently sits second in the 200 Breast, fifth in the 100 Breast and 11th place in the 200 IM in the league's rankings.
"It is a great honor for both Madeline and Paige to each earn a spot a on the 2022 C-USA Swimming & Diving All-Academic Team," said Marshall head coach Ian Walsh. "Both of these women work extremely hard to perfect their craft in the pool and in the classroom. We are very proud of what each of them have accomplished so far in their young careers here at Marshall and I know they will continue to excel in both areas as they continue their journey within our program."
The Thundering Herd will be in action this week at the Conference USA championships, a meet that will be held in Lynchburg, Va.
