Sun Belt sets Marshall Men’s Basketball Conference Schedule

Herd will make its new league debut on Thursday, Dec. 29 versus App State
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Marshall University men's basketball team will make its Sun Belt Conference debut on Dec. 29 at home against Appalachian State, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Sun Belt announced the 18-game conference schedules for all teams, including the four newcomers: Marshall, Old Dominion, Southern Miss and James Madison.
In addition to the Mountaineers to open SBC play, Marshall will play eight other games at home and nine on the road, with home/away matchups for East Division teams App State, JMU, Coastal Carolina, Southern Miss, ODU, Georgia State and Georgia Southern.
The Thundering Herd will also make a road trip to play West Division opponents Texas State (Jan. 19) and Arkansas State (Jan. 21). Six of the final eight games are on the road, with road trips to App State (Feb. 2) and Louisiana (Feb. 4); to Coastal Carolina (Feb. 9) and Georgia State (Feb. 11); and to JMU (Feb. 22) and ODU (Feb. 24).
Marshall plays App State, JMU, Coastal Carolina, Southern Miss, ODU, Louisiana Monroe, Georgia State, Georgia Southern and Troy at home.
The home finale versus Troy is set for Feb. 18.
During the Sun Belt's regular season, teams will compete every Thursday and Saturday with the exception of the final week of the season. Then, all Sun Belt teams will head to Pensacola, Florida, to compete in the 2023 Sun Belt Men's Basketball Championship at Pensacola Bay Center from Tuesday, Feb. 28 to Monday, March 6.
