Marlana VanHoose to Perform National Anthem Before Thursday's Men's Basketball Game

HUNTINGTON, W.Va --Marshall Athletics is proud to announce that Marlana VanHoose will be performing the National Anthem at Thursday's nationally-televised Men's Basketball game against Southern Miss. The game is set to tip-off at 9 p.m. after being elevated to ESPN2. 

The Denver, Kentucky native was born with Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and it was discovered shortly after birth that she was also blind. VanHoose is a three-time Heritage Award Recipient through the Artist Music Guild and has performed at numerous major sporting events, including Game 6 of the 2015 NBA Finals, the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, three NASCAR Spring Cup Series races, a New York Rangers game at Madison Square Garden and numerous other college basketball games, as well as the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City.

VanHoose was also the subject of ESPN's E:60 documentary titled, "Loud and Proud" which shared an uplifting story about Marlana's relationship with the UK Women's Basketball Team.
