JONESBORO, Ark. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (12-17, 4-11 Sun Belt) dropped its opening contest of the weekend at Arkansas State (14-13, 4-11 Sun Belt), 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-17), on Friday night in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Brynn Brown registered 21 assists as Peyton Neal led the team with 10 digs and Essence Clerkley had nine kills.

The Herd couldn't get on top of the Red Wolves in the first set falling 25-19. MU battled with ASU in the second set. The second frame saw a pair of lead changes and the scoreboard tied six times with Arkansas State taking it 25-23.

Marshall fell in the third set 25-17, hitting .189 in the final frame, as the Red Wolves took the match.
