HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (4-7) came back from a 12-point first-half deficit to hand the UNCG Spartans (8-2) its second loss of the season, 72-65, Saturday night in the Cam Henderson Center.

Nate Martin recorded his sixth double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds while dishing out a career-high six assists.

"One good thing about our schedule is not our record, but it is making us a better ballclub faster," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said after the win. "We've had to grow into learning how to win each game. It seems like we're getting better. That doesn't mean you don't have a relapse sometimes, but now we've built some steam of getting better each game."

Marshall never led in the first half and trailed by 12, 31-19, with 4:11 left in the opening 20 minutes of play. However, MU ended the opening half on a 13-3 run to trail by two, 34-32, at halftime.

After the Spartans hit the opening shot of the second half, Kamdyn Curfman tallied three of his team-high 19 points. Kevon Voyles, who had 16 points, followed with a triple on an assist by Jacob Conner to take a 38-36 lead at the 17:55 mark, The Herd's first of the contest. Conner tied his career-high in helpers with six in the victory.

UNCG managed to jump back in front a two times in the ensuing 10 minutes of game action, but a 7-0 run from 7:11 to 5:39 with four points from Martin and three from Curfman put the home side back on top for good.

Voyles and Curfman each hit a pair of free throws in the final 10 seconds to ice off the game.

Marshall held UNCG to just five points in the final five minutes of the game while scoring 17 down the stretch.

Game Notes
The Herd's defense held the Spartans to their second-lowest scoring output of the season at 65 points.

With 11 points in the victory, Obinna Anochili-Killen has scored in double figures in seven of his eight contests this season, including the last four.

Marshall turned 12 UNCG turnovers into 20 points and outscored the visitors 26-14 in the paint.
