Marshall Football's Spring Game Set For 4 p.m. Saturday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall's football team concludes its spring practice schedule on Saturday with the 2023 Spring Game at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, which will kick off at 4 p.m.
Marshall head coach Charles Huff split the rosters into two teams for the annual affair, which showcases a multitude of returning talent, plus some new faces who have impressed in spring. Huff said the event gives fans a chance to build excitement for the fall.
"For the fans to get back into the stadium, it's kind of the kickoff to the 2023 season," Huff said. "We have other sports that have games that day, too, so this is what Marshall's all about – the community – and this Saturday is a great opportunity to show that."
Marshall's 2023 Spring Game will feature two halves which are broken down into 12-minute quarters with a running clock. The last two minutes of the second quarter and fourth quarter will operate like a normal game in a two-minute situation.
There will also be a standard 20-minute halftime session in which some interactive on-field fun will be featured, including the World's Largest T-shirt toss.
Teams will be broken up into two sides – Green and Black – with each featuring an offense and a defense. Black jerseys are being utilized for the Spring Game due to Marshall's White jerseys being given to players following the victory over UConn in the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl.
Some of the leaders on the Green team include quarterback Cam Fancher, wide receiver Caleb McMillan and offensive lineman Trent Holler, as well as defensive back Jadarius Green-McKnight. Fans will also get their first look at newcomers, such as linebacker Tah Mac Bright and offensive tackle Lloyd Willis.
Standouts for the Black team include running back Rasheen Ali, center Logan Osburn, defensive end Owen Porter, linebacker Eli Neal, and cornerback Micah Abraham. Newcomers to watch for the Black team include defensive back J.J. Roberts and linebacker Kesean Brown.
"I'm looking forward to another opportunity to go out and improve," Huff said. "Even if we're running a small portion of the playbook, it's a chance to see the guys operate in a game situation and see them go out, execute and get some consistency going. For the younger guys, it's a chance to get some more reps before summer gets here."
Marshall's football team is coming into the 2023 season boasting of one of the nation's longest winning streaks after winning the final five games of the 2022 season.
The game caps what is set to be an action-packed Saturday for Herd fans.
The Joan C. Edwards West Lot opens at 10 a.m. for tailgating, which gives ample time before the annual Spring Fountain Ceremony at Noon outside the Marshall Memorial Student Center.
The HerdZone store, located at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, will also open at 10 a.m. on Saturday and remain open until 5 p.m. for fans to purchase merchandise.
Both Marshall softball and baseball are scheduled to play at 1 p.m. on Saturday – softball hosting James Madison at Dot Hicks Field and baseball hosting Georgia Southern at the YMCA Kennedy Center – which provides fans with a chance for a full day to support their favorite Marshall programs prior to the 4 p.m. kickoff of the 2023 Spring Game.
Fans will also be able to take part in a Choose-A-Seat season-ticket promotion, which will start at 2 p.m. at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. Those participating in Choose-A-Seat Day will enter through Gate A.
Gates A & B will be utilized for entry to the 2023 Spring Game. Those gates will open to the public at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets for the 2023 Spring Game are $5 and are all general admission. Parking passes in the West Lot for Saturday are $20. Tickets and parking passes for the game are available for purchase HERE.
