MUSB Stymied in Series Opener With Bobcats

Herd returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Herd softball team (39-8, 13-4 SBC) was shut out by Texas State (30-20-1, 10-7-1 SBC) Friday afternoon by a 3-0 scoreline at Dot Hicks Field.Â
The loss breaks an 89-game streak for the Herd of scoring at least one run.Â
Sydney Nester struck out four in a complete-game effort, with none of the three runs coming against her being earned.Â
The lone damage came in the 5th when the Bobcats scored three runs in an inning where MU committed three of its season-high four errors.Â
Texas State pitcher Jessica Mullins earned her 17th win of the year in a complete-game of her own, limiting the Herd to three hits.
UP NEXT
The second game of the series takes place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Herd will be celebrating senior day on Saturday, with an on field recognition for Grace Chelemen, Cailey Joyce, and Nester.
