NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced on Thursday that it is bringing back women's swimming and diving as its 20th sponsored sport for the 2023-24 season.
"We look forward to being part of the Sun Belt as we begin this new chapter for Marshall swimming and diving," Herd women's swimming and diving head coach Ian Walsh said. "This conference is known for hosting first class championships, and I know our student athletes will have a great experience that comes along with competing in the Sun Belt. Our staff and administrators remain committed to competing for championships and we can't wait to get started."
MU, after spending the 2022-23 season as an affiliate member of the Missouri Valley Conference, joins Georgia Southern, James Madison and Old Dominion in the sports return to the Sun Belt.
The Sun Belt Conference will host a conference championship in 2024. The event is set for February 14-17 at the Rosen Aquatics Center in Orlando, Fla. Individual bids to the NCAA Championship are earned through qualification times and standards.
The 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will take place in Athens, Ga., March 20-23. The CSCAA National Invitational will take place in Ocala, Fla. From March 14-16.
