HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (9-8, 4-0 Sun Belt) took a back-and-forth contest from the Georgia Southern Eagles (2-14, 2-2 Sun Belt), 79-74, on Wednesday night in the Cam Henderson Center. The victory extended the Herd's win streak in conference play to four.

"That was a high-level ballgame," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said. "Some of the shots they made were NBA-level shots. They're (Georgia Southern) young and play hard. I was proud of our young men. Around the six-minute mark, we started to get a little separation, but not much. We made a couple key mistakes we need to correct, but overall I hope our fans enjoyed the game."

Obinna Anochili-Killen, who tallied 19 points, threw down a dunk 58 seconds into the game for his 1,000th career point. However, The Herd trailed by as many as six points in the first and two points at halftime, 36-34.

In the second half, Kamdyn Curfman caught fire. The senior guard registered 16 of his 19 points in the game in the final 20 minutes including four of his five makes from three-point range. The North Bethesda, Maryland, native's final triple of the contest extended the team's lead to a game-high seven points, 75-68, with just over a minute to go to put the game out of reach.

Marshall's 24 of 30 makes from the free-throw line proved to be the difference in the game as the Eagles had just 12 attempts from the charity stripe making nine. MU made its final eight attempts from the line with Kevon Voyles making four on his season-high 20-point night. Ancohili-Killen made 11-of-12 from the free-throw line.

Jacob Conner led the Green and White with eight rebounds and six assists while scoring six points.

Game Notes
Curfman marked his 10th contest with Marshall making at least five three-point baskets in the game. He's scored at least 10 points in his 11 matchups.

Voyles' 20-point effort was his first of the season and The Herd's sixth such effort this season joining Anochili's four and Cameron Crawford with one.

In 13 of his 14 games this season, Anochili-Killen has reached the double-figure plateau including his last 10 contests.
