HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (9-11, 4-3 Sun Belt) fell on the road, 67-55, to end its Virginia road trip at (RV/RV) James Madison (17-2, 5-2 Sun Belt) Saturday night in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
"It was a much better game, structure was better," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said. "We're not making key plays, but we played something I could coach. I could tell what they were doing for the most part. Our biggest thing is trying to find who can play extended minutes without making mistakes."
With 23 points, including 18 in the second half, Kamdyn Curfman set a season-high with his first 20-point game of the season. The graduate student made seven of his 16 shots from the field and all six of his free throws.
Kevon Voyles added 11 points, 3-for-6 from three-point range, to go with six rebounds in the contest. Nate Martin brought down a team-high 10 rebounds with Jacob Conner dishing out four assists.
The Herd held the lead early in the first as the two sides battled back-and-forth, including a one-point advantage, 25-24, at the 3:31 mark after a Curfman three-point play.
However, the Dukes closed out the opening 20 minutes with a three-point lead, 32-29, at halftime and held the lead the rest of the way.
Marshall was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in the contest.
