Marshall senior guard is one of five players in NCAA with multiple triple-doubles this season

INDIANAPOLIS – Following a historic triple-double performance, Abby Beeman has been named one of five Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week honorees by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).

"I'm so happy for Abby. She deserves this honor," Marshall Women's Basketball head coach Kim Caldwell said. "She is such a huge part of our team's success. She is such a selfless player, she does so much more than score and she creates shots for others. She leads us in rebounds at 5-foot-5 and that's all based on heart. She is really becoming a great leader for us. I'm proud of her and blessed I get to coach her."

Beeman led the Herd to a pair of dominant wins over ODU and Coastal Carolina last week. Against ODU, the senior guard notched her second triple-double of the season with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, becoming just the fifth player in the NCAA with multiple triple-doubles this season. She is the first Marshall women's basketball player in history with multiple triple-doubles.

Two days later, Beeman followed that up with a 22-point effort in which she eclipsed the 2,000-point mark for her career while adding seven assists and five steals.

For the week, Beeman averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 assists, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals as the Herd stayed undefeated in the SBC.
