HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall's men's and women's basketball teams are set to embark on their respective 2024-25 seasons under first-year Head Coaches Corny Jackson for the men, and Juli Fulks for the women's team.

Sunday's Fans First doubleheader against the University of Pikeville will start at 4 p.m. for the men's game, with the women's game to follow at approximately 6:30 p.m. The preseason Fans First contests are free, but spectators planning on attending the games will need to claim their tickets using the promo code FANS FIRST at the top of the screen, HERE.

"We are fired up, the guys have been working hard and doing everything we have been asking them," Coach Jackson said. "We have been pushing them pretty hard and they have been responding well, so we are excited for Sunday."

"We are really excited to get going on Sunday," Coach Fulks said. "Getting our first exhibition game and being in the arena with fans is always a really fun experience especially after what was accomplished last year. We know that we have a great crowd, a great following and we're looking forward to getting back on the court in front of everybody and having everyone here."

Fulks leads the defending Sun Belt Conference Champions who will be unveiling its championship banner prior to tipoff.  The Herd has six newcomers and 10 returners from last season, including senior guard Aislynn Hayes, who was named to the Preseason All-SBC First Team.

"It is a blessing to be named to the First Team," Hayes said. "I just just have to continue to work hard and accept any challenges that come my way this year."

Jackson leads a team with 10 newcomers and six returners led by senior forward Nate Martin and fifth-year forward Obinna Anochili-Killen, who were named first- and second-team Preseason All-SBC respectively.

"It's been a good offseason. We've put in a ton of work," Martin said. "Getting adjusted to all of the new guys. I think the new guys we brought in our great people, great basketball players, hard workers. The offseason has been trying to get that chemistry, work with them and figure each other out."

"You want to finish good with this being my last year and make it memorable," Anochili-Killen said returning with Martin and to play under Coach Jackson.
