HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Women's Basketball team has announced it will host local middle and elementary schools in celebration of Education Day on Friday, Dec. 13. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. at Cam Henderson Center where the Herd women take on Jacksonville.

Complimentary admission will be provided to the students, staff and chaperones of attending schools. Students and chaperones are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Each school will have its own seating section at the Henderson Center and will be given an educational packet to complete while at the game.

"Marshall Education Day with the Women's Basketball Team was a terrific experience for our students and staff," said Lauren Werthammer, Martha Elementary principal. "So many of our students had never been to a Marshall event before, so getting them on campus to experience 'The Herd' was something they will not forget. Our staff is passionate about providing unique opportunities to students and, as 95 percent of our professional staff graduated from Marshall University, we Bleed Green! We are so excited to come back for a second year! Go Herd!"

Educational programming will be focused on the educational components of basketball, which includes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Schools wishing to attend Education Day must register in advance HERE. If you have any questions, feel free to email Jarrod Hunley at hunley9@marshall.edu.
