HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – With a double-double from Obinna Anochili-Killen, the Marshall University Men's Basketball team (5-3) held off a late charge from the Morehead State Eagles (3-5) to win 80-77 Wednesday night in the Henderson Center.

"We had to battle somethings, but throughout the season you have to battle those type of things," Herd Men's Basketball Head Coach Corny Jackson said. "We're happy Obinna came through, Dezayne, I mean all of our guys did. This was a good team win against a good Morehead State team, who's well coached, they execute, they play hard, they're physical and they have a professional scorer in Kenny White, Jr."

Anochili-Killen put together quite the stat line with 17 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. The senior forward went a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line while adding four blocks. The four rejections bring the Lagos, Nigeria, native within four blocks of surpassing Jansson Williams' career-program mark of 196.

Joining Anochili-Killen with 17 points in the victory was Dezayne Mingo, who made five of his 10 attempts from the field and went 7-for-10 from the charity stripe.

Wyatt Fricks also registered a double-figure scoring night at 11 on a 4-of-7 night from field, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.

The first half was tightly contested through the first nine minutes of the contest as MU held a one-point lead, 19-18, with 11:17 remaining in the first half. The Herd then opened up a big lead with a 15-3 run from the 11:05 mark to 6:36 with a Ryan Nutter layup ending it to give the home side 34-21 advantage.

A Fricks triple at the 1:03 mark gave Marshall it's largest lead of the contest at 14 points, 43-29, as it eventually carried a 45-35 advantage into the break.

The two sides traded runs seeing The Herd maintain its double-digit advantage for the majority of the first 13 minutes of the second half. The Eagles chipped away at Marshall's lead in the final 5:14 of the contest with MU not making a field goal in that time frame. The Herd's defense stepped up with Anochili-Killen recording his fourth and final block of the game with 36 ticks on the clock that led to pair of Mingo freebies to ice the game.

The Herd turned in 14 points off 14 MSU turnovers while giving up just five points on eight giveaways in the game.
