Luniushina Earns Third Straight SBC Swimmer of the Week Award

Freshman set a pair of program records at the House of Champions

NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University Swimming and Diving freshman Kseniia Luniushina took home her third consecutive Sun Belt Conference Swimmer of the Week award, as announced by the league office Thursday.
 
Luniushina, a native of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, put together her best performance of the season last weekend at the House of Champions midseason meet setting a pair of program records, breaking a Sun Belt Conference record and tying another as The Herd won the event by more than 150 points.
 
On day one, the freshman tied the SBC record in the 50 Freestyle in prelims with a time of 22.72 and won the event with a time of 22.82 in the finals. Luniushina led off the 200 Freestyle Relay helping pace the group of Madeline Hart, Parker Lynch and Audrey West to a victory in the race 1:32.07, the fourth fastest time in program history, while also leading off the 400 Medley Relay team of Paige Banton, Hart and West to a time of 3:41.46, the third fastest time in program history, and finishing second in the 50 Backstroke (25.13).
 
On day two, Luniushina began the day by breaking the program and SBC record in the 100 Backstroke in prelims at 53.35 seconds before starting the finals by leading off the 200 Medley Relay team with Banton, Hart, and West for a win with a time of 1:40.37, the fifth-fastest in program history. Luniushina took second place in the 100 Backstroke finals (53.65) to close out the day.
 
Luniushina continued her historic weekend with her second program record with a time of 1:58.20 in the 200 Backstroke, taking second place in the finals. She picked up another individual victory in the 50 Butterfly taking the event 24.40 seconds. The East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, native finished the meet in the 400 Freestyle Relay with Hart, West and Molly Warner. The relay finished 3:23.81, the sixth-fastest time in program history.
