AD speaks on change in leadership of football program
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The following is a statement from Marshall Director of Athletics Christian Spears on the leadership change for Marshall Football:
"First off, what an outstanding team effort on Saturday as we captured our first-ever Sun Belt Conference championship against Louisiana! This team is just so incredibly resilient. I'm extremely proud of how they represent Marshall University.
"Now that it has been released, Coach Huff's decision to take the position at Southern Miss was not unexpected. We are grateful that Coach Huff and his representatives have been transparent throughout his interview processes. We are happy for him and his family and sincerely appreciate all he did to augment our football foundation to a championship level here at Marshall.
"Appropriately, we are prepared for our next steps. Being the Head Coach at Marshall is a unique and special opportunity, and we are extremely confident that we will bring someone exceptional to Huntington.
"It is truly an amazing time to be at Marshall. We are already hard at work and look forward to introducing our community, our university and our student-athletes to our new Head Coach!"
