Herd Swimming and Diving Sweeps SBC Weekly Awards

Banton named swimmer of the week, Kelsheimer diver of the week

NEW ORLEANS – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving team swept the Sun Belt Conference Weekly Awards with Paige Banton taking home swimmer and Grace Kelsheimer winning diver of the week, as announced by the league office.
Banton played a significant role in the win over Toledo last weekend. She was a member of the winning 200 Medley Relay (Split 28.74) that set the fifth fastest relay in program history. She followed the relay, winning the 100 Breaststroke in a season best time of 1:02.53, which bested her own pool record and sits first in the SBC. The second half of the meet she won the 200 Breaststroke, her flagship event, setting a pool record, school record, and NCAA B standard in a time of 2:12.75. In Paige's final event, she placed third in the 200 Individual Medley in a time of 2:05.42, her second-best time of the 2023-2024 season.
Kelsheimer also played a vital role in the win. She notched an in-season best on 1m with a score of 295.88, achieving the NCAA Zone standard for the third time this season. Grace achieved another in-season best on 3m with a a score of 279.38, good for second place.
Marshall is set to be back in action at Sun Belt Conference Championships held in Orlando, Florida, from February 14 through 17.
