Marshall clinches at least a share of SBC regular season title with a win

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Coach Kim Caldwell's Marshall Thundering Herd (20-6, 14-1 SBC) travels to ULM (17-10, 9-6 SBC) Saturday afternoon. Tip from Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe is set for 1 p.m. eastern, noon locally.

PRE-GAME NOTES

  • Marshall picked up its 20th win of the season Wednesday. It is the sixth time in program history surpassing that mark and the third time doing so in the regular season.
  • The Herd can clinch at least a share of the SBC-regular season title with a win or a Troy loss Saturday. A win and a Troy loss at South Alabama, and Marshall clinches the outright regular season trophy. The Sun Belt Conference standings can be viewed HERE. 
  • Sophomore Meredith Maier made a career-high five 3-pointers in the team's last game. The Fairmont native is three rebounds away from 150 in her MU career.

ABOUT ULM

  • Like Marshall, ULM is having a resurgent season of its own, currently sitting in 5th place after being picked 11th in the SBC Preseason Poll.
  • First-year head coach Missy Bilderback has relied heavily on newcomers, including Clemson transfer Daisa Bradford. The senior guard leads the team in scoring (19.5 PPG), rebounds per game (7.8), and assists per game (4.4). 
  • The Herd and Warhawks will meet for just the third time and for the second straight season in Monroe. MU defeated ULM 61-59 last season.
