PENSACOLA, Fla. – Coming off a record-setting win in the Hercules Tires Sun Belt Conference Tournament opener, top-seed Marshall (24-6) takes on Old Dominion (22-8) in the SBC semifinals at 12:30 p.m. EST / 11:30 a.m. CST on Sunday morning at the Pensacola Bay Center.

PRE-GAME NOTES

  • Marshall comes into the Sun Belt Conference semifinals after a record-setting performance against App State in a 116-74 win in the quarterfinals. The Herd set the Sun Belt Tournament record for most points in a game (116), most points in a half (62), most field goals made (47) and tied for the most 3-point field goals (13).
     
  • Breanna Campbell finished Friday's game with 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting while adding six assists against the Mountaineers.
  • C.C. Mays set career-highs against App State with 18 points and six steals.
     
  • Abby Beeman, the SBC Player of the Year, had 19 points and nine assists for the Herd against App State.
  • The Herd is looking to set a new program record for wins in a season. Marshall has tied the record of 24, set by the 1986-87 season.
  • Marshall won its first regular-season conference title in 35 years by winning the 2024 SBC regular season title. The Herd will attempt to win its first conference tournament title and advance to its second NCAA Tournament appearance (1997).
  • The Herd's regular season title run came with accolades. Coach Kim Caldwell was named SBC Coach of the Year, while Abby Beeman was named the league's Player of the Year

ABOUT OLD DOMINION

  • Old Dominion comes into the contest after a hard-fought 67-64 win over ULM. The Monarchs led that game by 15 at one point, only to see the Warhawks rally for the lead, but ODU got the stops late to advance.
     
  • Jordan McLaughlin led the Monarchs with 19 points and five assists. Brenda Fontana also had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Marshall and ODU played twice in the regular season with Marshall using huge third quarters in each game to distant themselves. On Feb. 17, Marshall outscored ODU, 32-12, in the third quarter to earn an 89-75 win. In Huntington on Jan. 18, the Herd outscored ODU, 56-26, in the second half in a 90-60 victory.
