HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis team had five student-athletes named to various Women's Tennis All-Sun Belt teams as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Johanna Strom was named first-team all-conference in singles with Doroteja Joksovic earning a second-team nod. In doubles, Strom along with doubles partner Emma Vanderheyden were first-team honorees with the partnership of Sophia Hurrion and Aisling McGrane being named to the second team.

Strom put together a 21-10 overall record between the fall and spring with wins over opponents from SMU, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, VCU, Louisville, Furman and WVU in addition to eight conference victories, including one at Old Dominion, primarily at number one singles. 17 of her 21 victories came in straight sets.

Joksovic garnered a 21-11 over record during the 2023-24 campaign, including victories over opponents from Liberty, Louisville, Furman and a pair from Virginia Tech. The native of Belgrade, Serbia, went 9-1 in SBC action, winning her last nine falling in her first singles match of conference play at Old Dominion. Joksovic dropped just three sets during SBC action. All 21 of her victories came in straight sets.

In doubles, Strom and Vanderheyden combined for a 15-9 record with the duo's biggest win coming in sweep of the then-ranked 48th pairing of Justine Leong and Christina Hand in a road match at Northwestern. The pairing won nine matches by dropping 2 or fewer games while going 7-3 in SBC play.

Hurrion and McGrane went 14-6 as a duo this season with seven wins in eight decisions during SBC play. The duo's lone conference loss came in the team's SBC opener, 6-3, on court one at ODU. The English doubles pairing also beat a pair from Maryland during non-conference play as the team played primarily at number two doubles during the season.

The Herd begins its Sun Belt Conference Tournament run on Friday at 2 p.m. against the winner of App State and James Madison. Marshall enters the championship as the number two seed.
