CONWAY, S.C. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (11-9, 4-3 SBC) registered a 77-64 win Saturday afternoon over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (8-11. 1-6) in Conway, South Carolina.

"I's good to finally get the monkey off our back," Herd Men's Basketball Head Coach Corny Jackson said after the team's road victory. "I thought our guys responded, especially when they (Coastal Carolina) made a run there in the first half right before halftime. Then in the second half they came out and played pretty well in the first five to 10 minutes. But our guys responded, and I couldn't be prouder of them."

Obinna Anochili-Killen netted a season-high 23 points, his first 20-point game of the season, on an 8-for-15 shooting day with four blocks. Dezayne Mingo followed with 18 points, nearly notching a triple-double with eight rebounds and seven assists on his stat line.

With 16 points, Jalen Speer made five of his eight field-goal attempts, including 4-for-6 from downtown. Mikal Dawson rounded out four MU players in double-figure scoring with 10 points.

After taking just a one-point lead, 30-29, into halftime, The Herd kicked it into gear offensively and defensively in the second half. In the final 20 minutes, Marshall shot 57.1 percent from the field (16-for-28), including 50 percent from behind the arc (5-for-10), while forcing CCU into seven of the host's 12 turnovers.

The Chanticleers picked up their first lead since the 17:14 mark of the first half at 37-25 with 16:25 left in the ballgame. However, MU rattled off a 9-2 run from the 14:50 mark to 12:02 to go up 48-42, which was concluded by a Dawson triple.

The Herd then used a pair of threes by Speer to go up by 12, 60-48, with 8:36 remaining in the game. From that point to the final buzzer, MU saw its lead dip below 10 points for just 20 seconds. Marshall's largest lead of the matchup came at the 2:25 mark after Mingo made four straight free throws to go up 16, 72-56.

The Herd outrebounded Coastal Carolina 38-34 and outscored the home side 19-15 in second chance points.
