ATLANTA, Ga. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (12-9, 5-3 SBC) used a dominant second-half performance to take its contest, 92-79, at Georgia State (7-13, 3-5 SBC) Thursday night in Atlanta.

"Really good team win down here in Georgia," Herd Men's Basketball Head Coach Corny Jackson said after the win. "We had a few guys step up which is encouraging. We've always talked about the next man up mentality. We had Wyatt come off the bench and step up and bring some energy. We had Kai Spears come off with some energy. We also shot the ball well which is encouraging. We went 12-for-19 from three. I'm proud of these guys."

Obinna Anochili-Killen nearly recorded a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine blocks as he registered his fourth double-double of the season, second in the last three games. The native of Lagos, Nigeria, shot 9-for-16 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe.

At a game-high 25 points, Jalen Speer picked up his fifth game of 20 or more points this season, including his third in his last five games, on an 8-for-12 shooting night with five makes on eight attempts from three-point range. The Gainesville, Florida, native added a season-high seven assists to his stat line.

Mikal Dawson and Wyatt Fricks rounded out The Herd's double-figure scorers at 17 and 12 points, respectively. Dawson drained four triples with Fricks going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field with a pair of makes from downtown in his home state of Georgia.

Trailing by one, 41-40, at halftime, Speer tallied Marshall's first nine points of the second half with a Dawson three completing a 12-4 run to give the visitors their first lead since the 14:42 mark in the first half at 52-51 with 14 minutes left in the game.

Then after trading the lead a couple of times, Anochili-Killen jump started a 15-0 advantage with the first 10 points of the run from the 11:48 mark to 6:59 for a 10-point Marshall advantage, 70-60.

MU tallied 12 of the contest's final 20 points in the final 2:35 to cruise to the 13-point road win.

The Herd shot 60 percent from the field (15-for-25) and 60 percent from three-point range (6-for-10) in the final 20 minutes of play. For the game, the Green and White made 53.4 percent of its field goals (31-for-58) and 63.2 percent from behind the arc (12-for-19) while outrebounding the Panthers 36-33 on the glass.
