HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving team (5-2) fell to the Ohio Bobcats, 172-128, on Friday night in Huntington at the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium.
"Really proud of how our women carried themselves through this meet," Herd Swimmig and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh said. "From the first relay through the last, their enthusiasm and will to compete was there. There were so many people that competed and executed much better than our last showing in Bowling Green. We found ways to improve through our racing. Hats off to Ohio this evening. This meet is always very competitive, and they certainly bring the best out of us."
The Herd took seven events on the night led by a sweep in 1m and 3m Diving events by Grace Kelsheimer.
Other individual wins came from Kseniia Luniushina in the 200 Backstroke, Lauren McNamara in the 200 Butterfly, Madeline Hart in 100 Butterfly and Mia McBride in the 100 Backstroke.
"Kseniia (Luniushina), Lauren (McNamara), Madeline (Hart) and Mia (McBride) all had event wins tonight," Walsh said. "I thought our relays were exceptional, especially our 400 Medley Relays. Grace K swept both boards again and really battled on 3m which was fun to watch."
MU led off the dual with a win in the 400 Medley Relay by the team of Luniushina, Paige Banton, Hart and Audrey West.
"We are just over 3 1/2 weeks out of our conference championship. The team is in a great place so we look forward to building off of this as we celebrate our seniors next weekend against Georgia Southern."
