HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The No. 17 Marshall Men's Soccer team (5-1-4, 3-1-0 SBC) used a commanding 4-1 performance to end No. 19 Kentucky's (5-1-4, 3-1-0 SBC) nine-match unbeaten run Friday night at Hoops Family Field.

The Herd honored MoMo Diop, Eddie DeMarco, Aleksa Janjic, Theo Godard, Rai Pinto, and Ryan Holmes, were honored on Senior Night in a pre-match ceremony.

"This is the one we've been waiting on," Herd Men's Soccer Head Coach Chris Grassie said. "We needed to make ourselves believe. That we could be an excellent team, organized with a lot of good players. We executed the gameplan perfectly."

The Herd wasted no time grabbing control, with Gabriel Stevanato opening the scoring in the seventh minute on an assist from Alvaro Alvarez. Marshall doubled its lead just before halftime as Keaviano Francis finished an opportunity set up by Carl Romberg and David de la Vibora in the 42nd minute.

Momentum carried into the second half as Takahiro Fujita struck just over two minutes after the break, firing a goal into the upper corner from a Louie Salkeld assist. The goal was confirmed by video review, pushing the advantage to three goals.

Kentucky pulled one back in the 83rd minute through Joaquin Brizuela, but Larry Noel came off the bench to seal the result in the 90th, slotting home a goal after a setup from Joao Roberto.

The Herd outshot Kentucky 13-5 and had an advantage on corner kicks, 7-1.
