Carlos Del Rio-Wilson Named To Davey O’Brien ‘Great 8’ For Week 7

Herd QB one of only 3 Group of Five QBs to be named to list multiple times in 2025
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson was named to the Davey O'Brien Award's "Great 8" for Week 7 on Monday.
It is the second time this season that Del Rio-Wilson has been honored by the Davey O'Brien Award and he is one of only three Group of Five quarterbacks to be honored multiple times, joining South Florida's Byrum Brown and Navy's Blake Horvath.
All quarterbacks who are named as 'Great 8' recipients are included in the Davey O'Brien Award Midseason Watch List.
Del Rio-Wilson earned the honor for Week 7 after finishing 17 of 24 for 219 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 17 times for 95 yards and another two scores.
After Week 7 action, Del Rio-Wilson is No. 1 in FBS in quarterback efficiency (198.0) while also being No. 2 in completion percentage (76.4 percent).
In five games of action this season, Del Rio-Wilson has accounted for 1,115 yards of offense with 15 touchdowns and zero turnovers.
Del Rio-Wilson has started the last four games for the Herd and led the offense to 44.8 points per game while seeing the offense average 443.3 yards per game with passing and rushing each over 210 yards in each phase.
For the season, Del Rio-Wilson is 68 of 89 passing for 856 yards with 11 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Del Rio-Wilson has also rushed 67 times for 259 yards and four touchdowns.
Del Rio-Wilson leads Marshall into this weekend's Homecoming matchup with Texas State, which will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. To purchase tickets, click HERE.
