Maddie Emment Named American Conference Freshman Swimmer of the Week

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Swimming freshman Maddie Emment was named American Conference Freshman Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the league office.

Emment had a historic first collegiate meet against West Virginia winning the 1000 Freestyle with the fourth-fastest time in program history (10:04.24), placing second in the 500 Freestyle with the fourth-fastest time in program history (4:52.46) and winning the 200 Freestyle with the fifth-fastest time in program history (1:49.49).

The native of England also was a member of the 200 Freestyle Relay winning team with Kseniia Luniushina, Elyse Wood and Karley Wolfgram finishing with a time of 1:33.73.

All three of Emment's individual times rank second in the American this season with the relay time being the third fastest in the conference and fastest of the week.

The Herd is back in action in a tri meet against Ohio and Buffalo in Athens, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday.
