HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall senior Cade Gibbs scored 16 points off the bench to lead four Marshall players in double-figures as the Thundering Herd earned a 75-57 win on Senior Night in front of 5,223 fans at Cam Henderson Center.

The win gave Marshall the No. 5 seed in the upcoming 2025 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Men's Basketball Championship. The Herd won its fourth straight game to move to 19-12 overall and 12-6 in Sun Belt Conference play.

"That was an awesome game," Marshall Men's Basketball head coach Cornelius Jackson said. "I thought our guys came out with energy, the fans had energy and I was happy to see a big crowd help send these guys out the right way."

Marshall now advances as the No. 5 seed and will play at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT in the fourth round of the Hercules Tires SBC Championship.

The Herd led for 38:50 of 40 minutes in a dominant performance that started with the team jumping out to a double-digit lead in the first four minutes of the game and never looking back.

Gibbs scored 11 of his 16 points during a 13-2 run in which the lead ballooned from a four-point margin to a 39-24 Herd lead late in the first half following his third 3-pointer in span of 3:40.

From there, the Herd never looked back, building as big as a 24-point lead on a layup by Gibbs that made it 65-41 with 10:07 left.

In addition to Gibbs' performance, Jalen Speer added 14 points and five assists while Dezayne Mingo notched 10 points, 11 rebounds and five assists as well. Obinna Anochili-Killen also had 12 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in a complete effort for the Herd.

"I feel like this game sums up our team perfectly," Gibbs said. "We're a bunch of super-unselfish guys. At the end of the day, all of us want to win and all of us want to make the most of our last year. This game was a perfect way to go out heading into Pensacola."

Prior to the game, Marshall honored its seniors, which included Gibbs and brother Jakob Gibbs, Speer, Anochili-Killen, Nate Martin, Mikal Dawson and Creighton Thieneman.

Marshall now heads to Pensacola for the 2025 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Men's Basketball Championship having won four straight games and nine of 12 as the team enters the tournament.
